Shape high-performing supply chains, create real value for our customers and take responsibility for reliable rail transportation across Europe.

Our Supply Chain Central Europe organisation manages the end-to-end supply chain for liquid chemicals and gases across Europe.

As part of our Supply Chain organisation, the Rail team is responsible for transporting liquid chemicals and gases by rail tank car throughout Europe, connecting suppliers, logistics service providers and customers every day.

To strengthen our Rail team in Hamburg, we are looking for a motivated Supply Chain Operations Manager (m/f/d) to take responsibility for the product propylene. If you enjoy taking ownership, solving challenges and working closely with customers, suppliers and logistics partners, this could be the right opportunity for you. The position is permanent.

Your responsibilities:

  • You coordinate rail tank car transportation across Europe, covering both single-wagon and block train operations, and manage the day-to-day supply chain activities for propylene and our customers across Europe.
  • Acting as a central interface between customers, suppliers, railway undertakings, rail freight forwarders and internal stakeholders, you coordinate our external logistics partners and ensure agreed service and quality standards are met.
  • When transport disruptions or capacity constraints occur, you keep a clear overview and work with our partners to find pragmatic solutions. You ensure continuity of supply and use relevant KPIs to identify measures that improve service, quality and efficiency.
  • Managing and monitoring the relevant supply chain processes in SAP and other digital systems is also part of your responsibility, ensuring a high level of data and process quality.
  • Working closely with Product Management, Sales and Logistics, you contribute to the continuous development and improvement of our supply chain performance.
  • In addition, you ensure compliance with relevant regulations and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and ways of working.

Your profile:

  • Even in a dynamic environment, you are able to maintain a clear overview, set priorities and take a pragmatic, solution-focused approach to day-to-day operational challenges.
  • You bring experience in supply chain management, chemical logistics, rail freight or a comparable business environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, a customer-focused mindset and the confidence to drive topics forward are among your key strengths.
  • You are comfortable working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, successfully balancing different interests and priorities while communicating in a clear, professional and collaborative manner.
  • Experience working with SAP SD/MM/TM as well as common MS Office applications complements your profile.
  • Very good German and good written and spoken English complete your profile.

Desirable:

  • Experience with dangerous goods as well as customs and foreign trade matters would be an additional advantage.
