Investment Controller (m/f/d)

Together with strong partners, HELM is acting in the Business Units Chemicals, Crop Solutions and Energy Materials, combining innovation with sustainable investment strategies.

To strengthen our finance team, we are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Investment Controller (m/f/d), located in Hamburg, Germany.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in finance, accounting, and investment management.

Your tasks:

As Investment Controller (m/f/d) you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of HELM's legal entities and investment portfolio, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, providing valuable insights to senior leadership, and supporting investment decision-making processes. That means in detail:

• You will act as liaison for HELM's partnership investments to foster information exchange between the partnership and HELM Corporate Finance and HELM Group auditors
• As Investment controller, you take over the legal entity controlling related to funding, budgeting and forecasting for major entities and ensuring reporting compliance in line with internal controls and processes
• Analyze the financial performance of investments, including returns, cash flows, and other key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide actionable insights to improve investment strategies.
• You are responsible for minimizing financial risk by being aware of current processes, understanding legal entities/partnership's weakness and openly communicating areas of opportunities; you will support HELM Group’s audit
• Prepare and present investment reports to senior management, offering clear and concise explanations of performance, trends, and projections.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance and operations teams, to ensure seamless execution of investment strategies and alignment with broader business objectives.

 Your profile:

• You hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field and bring at least 3 to 5 years of professional experience in financial reporting or a similar finance-related area.
• Strong expertise in financial modelling as well as proficiency with accounting and reporting software such as Power BI and SAP are essential.
• You demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset, paired with a practical, hands-on approach. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective networks in an international environment are important for success in this role.
• A keen eye for detail and the ability to spot discrepancies and inconsistencies in financial data are crucial.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills enable you to clearly convey complex financial information to diverse audiences.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment is also required.
• Willingness to travel and fluency in English, both written and spoken, complete the profile.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with one of the Big 4 accounting firms, Spanish language skills, and a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification.
