Our Business Development Team at HELM Pharmaceuticals GmbH looking for a motivated (Junior) Patent Manager (m/f/d) for our Hamburg office.
Your tasks:
- You will support our patent team with patent searches and evaluations through the lifecycle of generic pharmaceuticals, from project ideas to development until launch, ensuring timely updates and project-specific assessments.
- You will act as a first point of contact for both internal and external requests regarding intellectual property (IP) matters.
- Moreover, you actively participate in project teams and coordinate the collaboration with external law firms and experts.
- Providing preliminary assessments for new ideas as well as defining the patent strategy are also part of your role.
- In addition, you will also be responsible for keeping our internal IP databases updated.
- Furthermore, managing invention disclosures, including communication with inventors, and oversee the patent application process from drafting to maintenance as well as managing patent portfolios are also within the scope of this role.

- Conduct freedom to operate analyses, assessing validity of patents or utility models, infringement, and enforceability, along with prior art searches for patentability.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for ongoing and planned projects and products.
- Handle all aspects of IP disputes, collaborating with external attorneys and supporting patent attorneys/counsels.
- Support various internal departments, including training new colleagues, incorporating IP aspects into contracts, and assisting with logistics and due diligence processes.
Your profile:
- You possess a MSc or PhD in life sciences and some years of working experience in IP management in pharmaceutical companies.
- You bring at least basic knowledge of European patent law and preferably of US patent law.
- We highly value candidates with certain experience in the generic pharma business.
- For this role good verbal and written communication skills in English are crucial.
- Proficiency in MS Office is expected.
- Familiarity with common patent databases is advantageous for you.
